Google Play adds Venmo as payment option for US users

Google has introduced Venmo as a new payment option for Google Play users in the United States. This update allows customers to purchase apps, games, subscriptions, and other digital content using their Venmo wallets, or the bank accounts and cards linked to their Venmo accounts.

In addition to standard purchases, the integration enables users to tip content creators within supported applications. Users can link their Venmo accounts through the payment methods section within their Google Play settings.

The move expands Google Play’s existing payment ecosystem, which already includes PayPal, Cash App, and major credit card networks like Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB. This expansion comes as mobile spending continues to grow; according to Sensor Tower, consumers spent over $167 billion on in-app purchases across iOS and Google Play in 2025, a 10.6% increase from the previous year.
