Google launches Googlebook laptop line with Gemini AI

Google has officially launched its new Googlebook laptop line, a premium hardware category designed to succeed Chromebooks. These devices run Googlebook OS, which unifies Android and ChromeOS technologies to provide deep integration with Android smartphones and native access to the Google Play Store.

The new lineup includes models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Hardware configurations vary: some models, such as those from Dell and HP, utilize Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips (ARM architecture), while others from Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors (x86 architecture).

Google has acknowledged that while most Android apps run smoothly, a small number of complex apps and games may require developer optimization to perform optimally on Intel-based models due to the architectural differences between ARM and x86. Additionally, certain advanced ecosystem features, such as seamless file sharing and screen mirroring, require devices running Android 17 or newer.

For advanced users, Google confirmed that the bootloader can be unlocked to install custom operating systems, though this process erases all data and may void warranties. The series is positioned as a premium competitor to Windows and macOS laptops, featuring high-end materials and integrated Gemini AI capabilities.
