Google preparing YouTube and YouTube Music redesign for iOS

Google is reportedly developing a visual redesign for YouTube and YouTube Music on iOS, utilizing Apple’s ‘Liquid Glass’ design language. This update aims to align the apps more closely with the aesthetic of recent iOS versions by incorporating translucent surfaces, blur effects, depth, and dynamic reflections.

In addition to the visual overhaul, both applications are expected to support iOS Live Activities. This feature would allow users to view real-time updates via the lock screen and the Dynamic Island. For YouTube Music, this could include playback controls and progress tracking, while YouTube might utilize it to display live sports scores through YouTube TV integration.

While Google has already implemented elements of this style in Chrome and Gemini for iPhone, these specific updates for YouTube have not been officially announced. The changes appear to be limited to the iOS platform and are not expected to affect Android versions.
