Google privacy lawsuit: Attorneys awarded $146.8 million in fees

A federal judge in California has awarded $146.8 million in legal fees to plaintiffs' attorneys following a $425 million jury verdict against Google in a privacy class action lawsuit. The litigation involved claims that Google unlawfully collected and used data from consumer activities on third-party applications, even when users had opted out of tracking.

U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg described the fee award as “extraordinary” but justified it by citing the “exemplary performance of counsel” and the significant risks taken by the legal teams. The attorneys representing the plaintiffs include firms Boies Schiller Flexner, Susman Godfrey, and Morgan & Morgan.
