Google rolls out Gemini Personal Intelligence for Android Auto
Google has announced the expansion of its Gemini AI assistant through a new feature called Personal Intelligence, designed to enhance the driving experience in vehicles using Android Auto and Google Built-in. This update allows the AI to access personal data from Google Workspace services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Maps, YouTube, and Search history, to provide contextual assistance.
Drivers can use natural language to perform complex tasks, such as asking for flight gate information by extracting details from Gmail or requesting directions to a doctor's appointment listed in their calendar. The system can also recognize locations from Google Photos or suggest restaurants based on personal dietary preferences.
Access to Personal Intelligence is an opt-in feature, allowing users to control which applications the AI can access. While the rollout is global, the feature is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area (including Italy and Bulgaria), Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria. The integration will first appear on Android Auto, with expansion to Google Built-in vehicles expected in the coming months.
