Google reduces Google Photos trash recovery period to 30 days

Google is updating the storage policies for its Google Photos service on Android devices. The company is reducing the time window during which deleted media can be recovered from the trash bin.

Previously, users had 60 days to restore accidentally deleted photos and videos from the cloud-synchronized trash. This period is being halved to 30 days. This change aligns the retention period for cloud-synchronized content with that of files stored only locally on Android devices, which already had a 30-day limit.

This adjustment standardizes data retention across the Google ecosystem, matching the 30-day automatic deletion policy used by other services such as Gmail and Google Drive. Users are advised to check their trash bins more frequently to prevent permanent data loss.
