Google releases Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 for Pixel phones, fixing audio, NFC and fingerprint bugs

Google has begun rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 to supported Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6 series through the Pixel 10 lineup, the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold. The update, build CP31.260623.010, retains the July 2026 security patch and focuses on stability fixes.

Key issues addressed are a buffer‑management bug in the audio framework that caused sudden loud static and distortion, a connectivity regression for the Pixel Tablet Speaker Dock, a NFC service regression that prevented some tags from being read, and a fingerprint‑authentication failure that stopped the sensor from unlocking the device. The beta is delivered over‑the‑air to users enrolled in the Android Beta Program and is positioned as a cleanup release ahead of the September Feature Drop.
