Google releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 for Pixel devices
Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6, a software update for various Pixel devices aimed at improving system stability and resolving several critical bugs. The update is available for a wide range of hardware, including the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 10 series, the Pixel Tablet, and the Pixel Fold. Notably, the Pixel 11 series is currently excluded from this beta cycle.
The update addresses six primary issues. Key fixes include resolving unexpected reboots on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold when using third-party camera apps and preventing system kernel crashes that occurred when apps requested simultaneous camera and microphone access during biometric verification. It also fixes a bug causing devices to crash or hang during scrolling, a visual error where content leaked into the status bar, and an issue where the screensaver appeared blank while charging.
In addition to bug fixes, this beta version sees the temporary removal of certain features deemed unstable, such as the notification blur effect on the lock screen, native app locking, and custom quick settings grids. The final stable version of Android 17 QPR2 is expected in December 2026.
