Google releases Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 for Pixel devices
Google has rolled out the Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 update (build DP11. 261002. 005) to a wide range of Pixel devices, spanning from the Pixel 6a to the Pixel 11 series, including the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold. This update focuses heavily on system stability and security, addressing at least 21 reported bugs.
Key stability fixes include resolving issues where devices would intermittently crash and reboot during normal use, as well as preventing unexpected shutdowns during WhatsApp video calls. The update also addresses a high standby battery drain caused by motion sensors remaining active after Face Unlock or camera usage. Connectivity improvements target Bluetooth pairing timeouts, mobile data, MMS, and hotspot issues on specific networks, such as Dish.
A significant security enhancement allows users to lock Quick Settings connectivity tiles—including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode, and mobile data—requiring a device unlock (PIN, pattern, or biometrics) to change them. This feature is designed to prevent thieves from quickly disabling network connections to avoid remote tracking.
Other refinements include fixes for display glitches, such as black screens after calls, overlapping lock screen notifications, and screen recording freezes during rotation. The update also introduces new customization options, such as a horizontal carousel for wallpaper themes, custom icons, and weather effects.
