Android 17 rollout expands across Google Pixel and major manufacturers

Google has begun the widespread deployment of Android 17, with Google Pixel devices being the first to receive the update. The rollout includes the Pixel 6 series and newer, as well as the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.

Other major manufacturers are also initiating their own deployment cycles. Samsung is rolling out One UI 9, based on Android 17, to various Galaxy flagship and mid-range models, though a formal global timetable has not been released. OnePlus and OPPO are transitioning to ColorOS 17, with deployment already underway for several models including the OnePlus 15 and Find X9 series. Nothing has also started a phased rollout of Nothing OS 5.0, bringing Android 17 to the Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (4a), and Phone (4a) Pro.

Despite the rollout, market data indicates a slow adoption rate for the new operating system. Android 17 currently holds only a 1% market share among active devices, while Android 16 has grown to over 25%. This fragmentation is attributed to varying manufacturer update schedules and the long tail of older devices still running previous versions.
