Google releases Android 17 with floating bubbles and built‑in screen‑recording

Google's Android 17 update introduces several native features aimed at multitasking and content creation. A new floating‑bubble system lets apps run in small, movable windows that can be expanded or closed with a tap, improving workflow on large and foldable screens. The OS also adds native screen‑recording that overlays the user’s facial reaction, a tool previously available only through third‑party apps.

Other enhancements include Live Updates on the lock screen, smarter notification grouping with counters, automatic volume reduction for noisy apps, a unified photo selector, regional unit adjustments, background‑app screenshots, gesture‑sensitivity controls, and advanced security measures such as Google’s optional Advanced Protection, guest profiles, and Find My Device. Battery management now offers an 80 % charge limit to extend lifespan.

Pixel devices received Android 17 first, while manufacturers such as Samsung (One UI 9 beta for Galaxy S26 series), Xiaomi (HyperOS 3.3), and OPPO are preparing their own updates based on the new version.
