Google and Samsung release October 2026 security patches

Google and Samsung have released critical security updates for October 2026 to address numerous vulnerabilities across Android devices and Galaxy smartphones.

The Android Open Source Project (AOSP) reported 25 vulnerabilities, including seven classified as critical. These flaws primarily affect the system and framework, with some allowing for local privilege escalation without user interaction. The updates cover Android versions 14 through 17.

Samsung has issued a corresponding Security Maintenance Release for Galaxy devices, addressing 62 vulnerabilities. This patch includes nine critical flaws that could potentially allow attackers to execute code on a device without user intervention. The update incorporates fixes from Google, Samsung-specific vulnerabilities, and chip-level improvements.
