Google announced that its AI‑powered research tool NotebookLM will be rebranded as Gemini Notebook. The change is cosmetic; the service will continue to operate as an independent product but will be more tightly integrated into Google's Gemini ecosystem, including the Gemini app and the AI Mode of Google Search.

The company says more than 30 million users and 600 000 organizations already rely on the tool. A key technical upgrade adds a secure cloud‑based compute environment to each notebook, allowing native code execution and more complex data analysis. This feature is initially available to Google AI Ultra subscribers and Workspace customers with AI Ultra Access, with rollout to Google AI Pro web users planned in the coming weeks.

The rename aligns with Google's broader strategy to consolidate its generative‑AI offerings under the Gemini brand, aiming to provide a unified experience across its AI products.
