Google rolls out Android 17 and Wear OS 7 updates for Pixel devices

Google has released the stable version of Android 17 for Pixel smartphones, introducing deeper AI integration, enhanced performance, stricter security controls, and new multitasking features such as floating app bubbles. The update also adds support for larger screens, tablets and foldables, mandates better app scaling, and promotes Jetpack Compose as the primary development toolkit. Improvements include faster memory handling, better battery efficiency, expanded HDR‑video and RAW‑image capabilities, and Bluetooth LE Audio support for hearing aids.

At the same time, Google has begun delivering Wear OS 7 to the Pixel Watch series (Pixel Watch 2, 3 and 4). The new wearable OS adds live‑updates for select apps, richer widget support replacing tiles, and tighter integration with other connected devices, including upcoming XR glasses. Users upgrading from Wear OS 6 can see up to a 10 % increase in battery life, and the system will eventually allow custom widget creation via natural‑language input. Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches are expected to run Wear OS 7 from launch.
