Google launches Gemini voice features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google has officially rolled out new conversational AI voice features across its Workspace ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep. Powered by Gemini models, these tools aim to transform productivity by allowing users to interact with applications through natural speech rather than traditional typing.

Gmail Live enables users to conduct conversational searches within their inboxes. Instead of using keywords, users can ask specific questions, such as inquiring about flight gate numbers or school schedules, and the AI will retrieve and summarize the relevant information while providing links to the source emails.

Docs Live functions as a voice-driven drafting assistant. It allows users to perform a ‘brain dump’ of ideas, which the AI then organizes into structured documents. With user permission, it can integrate information from Google Drive, Gmail, Chat, and the web to enhance drafts.

Keep Live simplifies note-taking by converting spoken thoughts into organized lists and notes. The system is designed to understand intent without requiring rigid commands, making it useful for hands-free tasks like creating grocery lists.

Access to these features is currently tiered based on subscription levels. Gmail Live and Keep Live are available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers on Android and iOS. Docs Live is more restricted, requiring a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. Google has indicated that Workspace business customers will receive access in the near future.
