Google rolls out Gemini‑powered Finance app and Home Speaker
Google released the first dedicated Android app for Google Finance, ending its beta phase and adding a suite of Gemini AI features. The app aggregates watchlists, real‑time market data, news and AI‑driven analyses such as “key moments” that explain price moves. Users can import portfolio data via CSV, PDF or voice, and the AI can generate customized briefings and answer detailed investment queries. Live earnings‑call streaming and further portfolio tools are slated for later this year, with an iOS version promised in the second half of the year.
In parallel, Google introduced the Google Home Speaker, its first smart speaker built around the Gemini AI model and the first product to drop the Nest brand from speaker naming. The device sports a larger, fabric‑wrapped spherical design, Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and Thread 1.3 with border‑router capability, enabling Matter‑compatible smart‑home integration. It offers recycled‑material construction and a visual Gemini status ring, though reviews note its audio performance falls short of the higher‑priced Nest Audio. Both launches reflect Google’s broader strategy to embed Gemini AI across its services and hardware offerings.
