Google launches Health Guardian features for Pixel Watch
Google has rolled out the Health Guardian update for the Google Health app, introducing advanced health monitoring features for Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5 users. The update enables long-term tracking of blood pressure trends, insulin resistance, and sleep breathing quality.
These features utilize sophisticated algorithms trained on massive datasets—including over one trillion data points—to identify subtle physiological changes. For instance, blood pressure trends are estimated via pulse and motion data without requiring a traditional cuff, while insulin resistance is monitored through heart rate, sleep, and activity patterns. Users can expect their first comprehensive monthly health summaries in early October.
Additionally, the update expands the Cardio Load feature to include workouts recorded on third-party devices, such as Apple Watch and Garmin, provided they sync heart rate data to Google Health. While these features are free for Pixel Watch owners, Google noted that users of the Fitbit Air will require a Google Health Premium subscription to access similar blood pressure and insulin resistance tracking later this year.
