Google rolls out Play Services and Play Store updates

Google has released updates for Google Play Services v26.39 and Google Play Store v53.5, focusing on security, developer tools, and enhanced device integration rather than a major Android visual overhaul.

Key updates to Google Play Services include the introduction of OEM Design Tokens, which allow car manufacturers to customize the color themes of Google apps within Android Automotive. The Find Hub service is receiving NFC support, enabling users to tap an NFC-enabled phone against a tag to quickly access settings, view details, or identify lost tags. Additionally, a new registration flow allows users to set categories and configure features like ‘Left-Behind Reminders’ during initial setup.

In the Google Play Store, AI-generated images in India will now include an AI label to increase transparency. Users can also view metrics regarding the impact of their reviews, such as total views and helpfulness votes. Other updates include support for card art and payment network logos in Wallet notifications and new developer features for Google Maps integration.
