Google secures 20-year nuclear energy deal for data centers

Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, has entered into a 20-year strategic agreement with Constellation Energy to secure nuclear power for its data centers. The deal involves an investment of over $4.3 billion to increase the capacity of existing nuclear reactors located in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

The partnership aims to add 890 MW of new nuclear capacity to the PJM Interconnection grid, the largest electricity grid operator in the United States. This modernization project is described as one of the largest between a nuclear energy provider and a technology firm, providing power equivalent to constructing a new large-scale nuclear reactor without building a new facility.
