Google plans AI-driven transformation of Discover feed

Google is recruiting senior engineers and design leaders to overhaul Google Discover, shifting the platform toward an AI-powered, proactive experience. Job listings for machine learning and UX roles indicate a strategy to integrate AI-generated content (AIGC) directly into the feed.

Technical roles, including Staff and Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineers, will focus on building automated workflows to generate content and implementing quality controls to ensure factual accuracy, coherence, and tone. The goal is to move beyond simple article recommendations to a system that can identify relevant topics and provide proactive information.

A Principal UX Lead position aims to transform Discover into a “proactive, hyper-personalized concierge experience.” This vision involves the platform anticipating user needs and helping them achieve specific goals by connecting them with content, products, and services across the Google ecosystem, such as YouTube, Shopping, Chrome, and Android.
