Google Sheets integrates Gemini AI for data analysis

Google has integrated its Gemini AI into Google Sheets to assist users with table creation, formula writing, data cleaning, and complex analysis. Users can interact with the AI through a side panel or by using specific AI functions within cells to automate tasks such as summarizing customer feedback or categorizing text.

Access to these features is not universal. Users must have an eligible Google Workspace account, a qualifying Google AI plan, or a paid personal AI subscription. Free personal accounts generally do not have access to the Gemini side panel. Additionally, in organizational settings, administrators must enable smart features for the tools to be available.

While Gemini can analyze existing data and suggest formulas or charts, it cannot independently collect or standardize raw data. Users are encouraged to provide specific prompts that include data locations, objectives, and desired output formats to ensure accuracy.
