Google tests 'Ask Gemini' AI tool in Chrome; Pragma‑AWS unveil WIZI banking assistant
Google is trialing a new contextual AI feature called “Ask Gemini” in the development version of its Chrome browser, Chrome Canary. When users highlight any text on a webpage, a button appears that copies the selection, opens a side panel and automatically sends the excerpt to the Gemini model for an instant response. The feature includes user controls such as site‑specific hide options and a settings toggle to disable the toolbar entirely. No official release date has been announced.
Colombian fintech Pragma, in partnership with Amazon Web Services, demonstrated a prototype financial assistant named WIZI that embeds generative AI directly into digital banking applications. WIZI engages users in conversational interactions, analyses spending patterns and provides personalized recommendations on budgeting, credit and investments without leaving the bank’s own interface. The prototype highlights challenges around data fragmentation, scalability and security, and the company is already in talks with banks in Mexico about deployment.
