Google tests Gemini‑powered auto‑fill in Chrome Canary

Google is trialing a new AI‑driven feature called “Find and Fill with Gemini” in the experimental Chrome Canary browser. The tool can pull personal data such as reservation numbers, addresses, or photo‑derived text from Gmail, Google Photos and other Google services to automatically complete online forms. Users activate it by typing "@@" in any text field or via a right‑click menu option, after which Chrome sends the page title and URL to Google’s servers. Google assures that the extracted information will not be used to train its AI models and will not be reviewed by humans.

The feature is currently available to testers in the United States but is blocked in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom due to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act and GDPR restrictions on cross‑service data use without explicit consent. The United Kingdom received a version of Gemini in Chrome on 14 July without the auto‑fill capability. No public release date for the stable Chrome version has been announced.
