Google to acquire Torsboda Industrial Park in 2.1 billion SEK deal
Sundsvall and Timrå municipalities have reached an agreement to sell the Torsboda Industrial Park to Google for 911 million SEK. As part of the deal, Google will also assume existing loans, bringing the total value of the transaction to over 2.1 billion SEK.
The sale involves 214 hectares of land, with 140 hectares already designated under detailed planning. Following this historic revenue injection, local debate has emerged regarding the best use of the funds. One proposal suggests utilizing the proceeds to construct a multi-purpose arena in Birsta capable of seating 8,500 spectators, intended for use by Timrå IK and Sundsvall Hockey, rather than investing approximately one billion SEK into a congress center at Navet.
