Google to launch Gmail program allowing political campaigns to bypass spam filters

Google is launching the Gmail Verified Sender Program on September 8, a move that will allow political campaigns in the United States to bypass standard spam filters. To participate, political committees must send emails from verified domains and maintain a spam report rate of less than 0.3%.

Google states the program is designed to connect users with desired content while maintaining user control. The company emphasized that users will retain the ability to mark messages as spam, block specific senders, and unsubscribe from mailing lists.
