Google to move Pixel hardware production out of China by 2027

Google plans to move the entire production of its Pixel hardware ecosystem out of China by 2027. According to reports from Nikkei Asia, the company has notified suppliers that manufacturing for Pixel smartphones, Pixel Watches, and Pixel Buds will shift to new locations.

Vietnam and India are expected to take over the majority of the manufacturing responsibilities. Google has been expanding its production capacity in these regions in recent years. Vietnam, in particular, is expected to play a significant role, leveraging existing experience and infrastructure developed for smartphone production.

The strategic shift aims to reduce long-term manufacturing risks and minimize dependence on a single country, aligning with the ‘China+1’ strategy adopted by many multinational technology firms. This move is intended to enhance supply chain agility and resilience amidst global economic and geopolitical uncertainties.
