Google restricts Gemini Pro access for AI Plus subscribers

Google is restructuring its AI subscription tiers, significantly limiting access to advanced models for lower-cost users. Starting November 13, 2026, Google AI Plus subscribers will lose access to Gemini Pro models. These users will instead be restricted to the faster, lighter Flash and Flash-Lite models.

To maintain access to Gemini Pro capabilities and the new Gemini 4 Argon model, users must upgrade to the Google AI Pro tier, which costs approximately 21.99 euros per month. This represents a substantial price increase compared to the 4.99 euro AI Plus plan. The changes also affect the AI mode within Google Search, where advanced reasoning tasks will be reserved for higher-tier subscribers.

Additionally, discrepancies have been noted regarding Google One AI Pro free trials. Unlike fully paid subscribers, trial users face restrictions such as lack of access to the Gemini 4 Argon model via Antigravity and the unavailability of YouTube Premium Lite until the trial period concludes and converts to a paid subscription.
