Google unveils Android 16 multitasking boost and Gboard clipboard history

Google’s upcoming Android 16 preview introduces a flexible split‑screen system that can anchor up to three apps at once. The layout uses two main columns and a smaller side column, letting users keep two apps at normal size while a third appears as a quick preview that can be promoted when needed. The update also adds a native window‑minimize button, allowing apps to be hidden in a task bar without closing, improving productivity especially on tablets and high‑end devices.

In the same vein, the Gboard keyboard now offers a built‑in clipboard manager that records a history of copied text, links and images. Users can activate it from the clipboard icon, view past items, and pin frequently used entries to prevent automatic clearing. The feature adds a layer of convenience for moving content between apps, though copied items are still removed after a period of inactivity unless pinned.
