Google updates Android ecosystem with new system tools and features

Google is rolling out several updates and new features across its Android ecosystem. A new system component called Android Pulse has been identified on Pixel devices. This app is designed to facilitate the distribution of rules for detecting anomalies in critical system resource consumption, helping to prevent apps from behaving erratically or consuming excessive memory and battery.

With the launch of the Pixel 11 series and Android 17, Google is also introducing ‘Pause Point,’ a Digital Wellbeing feature. This tool aims to reduce compulsive scrolling by prompting users to take a 10-second pause when they attempt to open an app designated as a distraction.

Additionally, Google is enhancing personalization for Search, Discover, and Google News. New features include a ‘Favorite Sources’ button for publishers to integrate into their websites and the ability for users to manually specify topics or links they wish to see more or less of within the Google app, allowing the feed to update in real time.
