Google updates Gemini app for Android with new design

Google has launched a comprehensive update for its Gemini AI application on Android, focusing on a redesigned sidebar and a streamlined settings menu to improve user experience.

The new sidebar design features a search button in the top right corner and places the 'New chat' option at the forefront. To reduce visual clutter, the interface displays only five primary elements before requiring users to select a 'More' button to view additional options. The 'Library' section has also been moved to a more prominent position for easier access to previous archives.

For Google AI Ultra subscribers, the expanded menu includes specialized features such as images, scheduled tasks, daily summaries, customization, student tools, videos, and Gems.

Additionally, Google has consolidated settings that were previously scattered between account menus and Gemini-specific settings into a single, integrated page. This unified settings page allows for easier management of personal preferences, including notifications, personal intelligence, avatars, task settings, appearance, voice, and data and privacy controls.
