Google updates Gemini Notebook with new AI study features

Google has introduced three new features to Gemini Notebook, formerly known as NotebookLM, designed to enhance structured learning and study workflows. These updates focus on helping users transition from merely organizing documents to actively comprehending and retaining information.

The new capabilities include:

• Short Video Overviews: Converts uploaded sources—such as PDFs, websites, YouTube videos, and audio—into approximately 60-second narrated videos with animations to explain complex concepts quickly.

• Interactive Learning Overviews: Generates comprehensive study guides from uploaded reports, combining summaries with infographics, flashcards, and structured learning paths based strictly on the user's provided materials.

• Advanced Testing Formats: Expands quiz capabilities beyond simple multiple-choice questions to include short-answer, multiple-selection, and fill-in-the-blank formats to better test active recall.

These tools are available for personal and Workspace accounts in various regions, including the US and the EU. While deployment may vary by account type and age requirements, the features aim to assist students and professionals in managing large volumes of lecture notes, training manuals, or certification materials.
