Google updates Gmail to allow direct copying of security codes

Google is introducing a new feature to the Gmail mobile application for Android and iOS designed to streamline the two-factor authentication (2FA) process. The update allows users to copy one-time security codes directly from the inbox view without needing to open the specific email message.

When the app detects a message containing a numerical security code, a small button will appear beneath the email subject line. Tapping this button automatically copies the code to the device's clipboard, enabling users to quickly paste it into the application or service requiring verification. This update aims to reduce the number of steps required when switching between apps to complete a login or transaction.
