Google Vids enables free 1080p AI video generation
Google has removed the paywall for Gemini Omni video generation within Google Vids, making 1080p video creation available to any user with a Google or Google Workspace account. Previously, this feature was restricted to paid subscribers of Google’s AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra tiers.
The tool utilizes the Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model to generate video from text prompts, images, audio, or existing clips. New features include scene extension, which allows users to prolong a scene without changing characters or lighting, and the ability to pin clip lengths to match specific scripts or narration. Additionally, users can upscale older AI footage to 1080p resolution.
To ensure transparency, every clip produced carries an invisible SynthID watermark embedded in the frames, which is readable by machines to identify the content as AI-generated. While Google advertises 1080p output, some real-world testing has yielded 720p resolution clips.
