Google Voice launches AI-powered note‑taking feature with Gemini integration
Google is rolling out an AI‑driven note‑taking capability for Google Voice. The feature, built on the Gemini AI model, records and transcribes calls in real time, then creates a concise summary and a list of actionable items. After a call ends, users receive an email with these notes and can access the full transcript, audio file, and AI‑generated summary within the Voice app.
The update is enabled by default for new Google Voice accounts, while existing Workspace users must opt in through the “Workspace Smart Feature Consent” settings. Only the person who activated the feature can view the notes, and a notification tone alerts all participants that the conversation is being recorded and processed by AI. The rollout applies to Google Voice for Workspace customers with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or AI Premium add‑ons, extending Google’s broader strategy to embed Gemini across its productivity suite.
