Googlebook lacks Samsung smartphone integration at launch
The newly released Googlebook laptops currently lack support for Samsung smartphones regarding the ‘Better Together’ feature set. This integration, designed to allow seamless collaboration between laptops and phones, includes capabilities such as instant hotspots, notification synchronization, remote file access, and the ability to continue tasks started on a mobile device.
Google has confirmed that these features require Android 17 or higher. While Samsung’s latest models, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8, ship with Android 17, the necessary components for Googlebook OS connectivity are not yet available. Google stated that support for all Android 17-compatible Samsung devices is expected to be rolled out within the coming weeks.
In addition to the Samsung compatibility issue, early users have reported that the Slack web app is unavailable on Googlebook at launch. There are also reports of performance issues when running certain applications on devices equipped with Intel processors.
