Google.org Boosts AI Education Project with New Two‑Year Funding

Google.org has renewed its financial support for the AI Education Project (aiEDU), a nonprofit that works to make K‑12 schools across the United States ready for artificial‑intelligence‑driven futures. The new commitment, lasting from March 2026 to February 2028, will expand district partnerships—many in Title I schools across states such as California, New York, Florida, Georgia and Texas—while scaling teacher‑training programs and professional‑learning communities.

Separately, a year‑long research effort tracking AI tools in real classrooms finds wide gaps between intended and actual usage. More than 130 AI‑in‑education bills are under consideration in 31 states, yet implementation conditions—such as mandatory integration into the school day and active adult support—appear to drive higher adoption rates more than the tools themselves. Early data show usage ranging from under 30% to over 50% of eligible students, underscoring the need for clear policies and infrastructure before clear learning gains can be measured.
