Google's Android 17 Adds Android Switch for Seamless iPhone-to-Android Migration

Google's latest Android 17 release includes the built‑in Android Switch app, allowing users to move data from an iPhone to an Android device wirelessly via Wi‑Fi. The feature supports passwords, passkeys, Wi‑Fi credentials, alarm settings, SMS/RCS messages, iMessage chats (including groups, stickers and threads), background images, files, calendars, call logs, SIM data (where carriers allow) and more. Users must deactivate iMessage and FaceTime on the old iPhone after transfer, and apps themselves must be reinstalled, though WhatsApp offers its own migration tool. Android Switch is pre‑installed on supported Android 17 devices and is rolling out first to Google Pixel phones before reaching other manufacturers in the coming months.
