Google's Android 17 rollout omits five Gemini‑AI features

Google began rolling out Android 17 to Pixel devices, highlighting security, performance and memory‑management improvements. The initial release, however, did not include five features that were previously promoted as part of the Gemini Intelligence suite.

The missing features are: • Pause Point – a tool that detects compulsive app usage and forces a ten‑second pause with suggested activities before granting access. • Multi‑App Workflows – AI‑driven automation that can summarise emails, organise appointments and coordinate actions across multiple apps. • Rambler – a Gboard voice‑typing system that understands natural speech, pauses and multiple languages. • Create My Widget – a text‑based command to generate custom home‑screen widgets. • Noto 3D Emoji – a three‑dimensional redesign of Android emojis.

Google has said these capabilities depend on further Gemini integration and are expected to arrive in a later update, likely at the Made by Google event slated for the end of the year.
