Google's Android Canary 2608 adds customizable Quick Settings for Pixel phones

Google released Android Canary 2608, a developer preview build, on 6 August 2026. The update introduces a Quick Settings layout editor for Pixel devices, letting users reorder the brightness slider, tile area and media player and choose from six preset arrangements. A new app‑grip feature also enables easier split‑screen multitasking on foldable and large‑screen phones.

The build includes the August 2026 security patch and is the final Canary version for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which will no longer receive further test builds. The changes aim to bring Pixel phones in line with customization options already offered by other Android manufacturers.
