Google's Gemini AI reaches 950 million monthly users as it expands in German smart‑home devices

Alphabet announced that its Gemini AI model now has 950 million monthly active users, up from 750 million in February 2026 and 900 million in May. The surge is driven chiefly by the company's cloud segment, which reported an 82 % revenue increase to €24.8 billion in the second quarter and a three‑fold rise in operating profit to €8.8 billion. Gemini’s market share is closing the gap with rival ChatGPT, whose share fell below 50 % in the first half of the year while Gemini’s reached 27.7 %.

In Germany, Google is extending Gemini to its smart‑home ecosystem. The latest update lengthens the conversation‑memory window to 15 minutes, letting the system retain context across multiple commands. The feature is now available on older Google Home Mini and Nest Hub devices for Google Home Premium subscribers, alongside UI tweaks for blinds, window covers and security prompts about door‑lock passcode management. Additional bug fixes improve video playback, camera feed continuity, and battery‑status displays on mobile devices.
