Google's Search Generative Experience reshapes SEO strategy

Google is expanding its search platform with the Search Generative Experience (SGE), an AI‑driven feature that delivers conversational answer snapshots and follow‑up questioning. SGE, currently in limited rollout to users who join a waitlist, presents integrated information, links and recommendations rather than the traditional list of blue‑link results.

The emergence of SGE is prompting marketers and website owners to revisit their SEO tactics. Traditional keyword‑centric methods are giving way to strategies that emphasize search intent, content relevance, voice‑search optimization and structured data, as the AI model evaluates context and user needs. Brands are advised to adapt their content for AI snapshots, ensure accurate schema markup, and prepare for new SERP formats that may limit visibility for certain query types, such as YMYL topics or brand‑specific searches.
