Gopalganj: Youth shot dead during Akhada procession in Bihar

A 22-year-old man, identified as Vikas Kumar, was shot dead by unidentified assailants during an Akhada procession near Purani Chowk in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim was shot in the head at close range while participating in or near the procession. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital by police but was declared dead during treatment.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers. While the motive has not yet been established, police are investigating potential angles including personal enmity or disputes arising during the procession. Additional police personnel have been deployed to sensitive locations to prevent further tension in the area.
