Kenyan champions Gor Mahia secured a place in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup final after a dramatic penalty shoot‑out win over Sudanese giants Al Hilal in Kigali. The semi‑final ended 1‑1 after regular time, with Gor taking the lead in the 38th minute before Al Hilal equalised just before halftime. The dead‑lock persisted through extra time, and Gor Mahia prevailed in the shoot‑out to book their first final appearance in more than four decades.

The Kenyan side entered the tournament by topping Group A, beating Rwanda's APR FC 5‑0, drawing 1‑0 with Uganda's Vipers SC, and edging Djibouti's Garde Républicaine 1‑0. Their victory over Al Hilal marks a significant milestone for Gor Mahia, who last reached a CECAFA final in the early 1980s.
