Gor Mahia prepares for CAF Champions League clash against Pyramids FC

Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are preparing for their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against Egyptian side Pyramids FC. The first leg is scheduled for September 6 at Nyayo Stadium, followed by a return fixture in Cairo on September 13.

Head coach Charles Akonnor has emphasized the need for defensive discipline and concentration to avoid mistakes, citing a recent 3-1 loss to Tusker as a cautionary tale. Despite facing an uphill battle against the Egyptian giants, Akonnor expressed confidence that his squad can compete if they execute their game plan effectively.

The club is managing several injury concerns. Forward Patrick Essombe has returned to training after an ankle injury, but captain Sylvester Owino is still rehabilitating a calf muscle injury. Other players, including Samuel Kapen and Felix Oluoch, remain sidelined. To bolster the squad, the club has introduced new signings such as goalkeepers Humphrey Katasi and Michael Onyango, and midfielder Eno Machaka.

Ahead of the match, Gor Mahia announced that tickets are available for purchase exclusively through an official online platform. In compliance with CAF regulations, no tickets will be sold at the stadium on match day.
