Gorakhnath Temple to host state-level wrestling competition

A two-day state-level senior prize money men's wrestling competition will be held at the Gorakhnath Temple premises on August 16 and 17 to mark the festival of Nag Panchami. Organized by the state sports department and the District Wrestling Association, the event features three categories: Uttar Pradesh Kesari, Uttar Pradesh Kumar, and Veer Abhimanyu.

Approximately 325 wrestlers from various sports colleges, hostels, divisions, and districts across the state are expected to participate. Winners of the three main titles will each receive 1.01 lakh rupees and a mace (gada). Runners-up will receive 51,000 rupees, while two third-place finishers in each category will receive 25,000 rupees. Additionally, the sports department will provide 500 rupees to every wrestler for each bout performed.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to attend the final matches on August 17 to encourage the athletes and distribute prizes.
