Goran Selak claims OHR is undergoing a phase of ‘silent dying’

Goran Selak, the Minister of Justice of Republika Srpska, stated that the Office of the High Representative (OHR) is undergoing a phase of ‘silent dying’ as Bosnia and Herzegovina gradually adapts to a future without a High Representative.

Selak argued that Republika Srpska has never required the OHR and urged the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to accept its absence. He emphasized that the country must take responsibility for its own institutions and future.

Furthermore, Selak criticized political leadership in Sarajevo, claiming they have failed to accept the existence of Republika Srpska 30 years after the Dayton Agreement. He alleged that there are ongoing attempts to strip Republika Srpska of its constitutional competencies and transfer them to central-level institutions, which he claimed are often perceived by Sarajevo as belonging solely to Bosniaks.
