Goran Senjanović details failed collaboration with University of Split

Renowned theoretical physicist Goran Senjanović has revealed details regarding a failed collaboration with the University of Split. According to Senjanović, the University Senate confirmed the establishment of an International Center for Theoretical Physics in February 2024, which was intended to serve as the basis for his appointment to a Chair position.

Senjanović stated that he left his position in Munich to return to Split and attract top scientists to the region. However, he claims that the project and his agreed-upon position were abruptly canceled. He reported being offered an advisory role to the rector that sat outside academic structures, lacked real responsibilities, and came with an unusually high salary—an offer he declined for moral and ethical reasons.

The proposed center had received support from prominent international physicists, including Nobel laureate Sheldon Glashow, Rabindra Mohapatra, Jogesh Pati, and Jim Verdee. Despite the setback, Senjanović indicated he continues to invest time and resources into developing scientific initiatives at the University of Split.
