Gordan Lederer: 35 years since death of HTV cameraman
The Croatian Journalists' Association marks the 35th anniversary of the death of Gordan Lederer, a prominent photographer and cameraman for Croatian Television (HTV).
Lederer was killed on duty on August 10, 1991, on Čukur hill near Hrvatska Kostajnica. He was struck by a sniper's bullet while filming Croatian fighters during Serbian attacks on the Pounje region.
Lederer left behind a significant body of work that documented the early days of the Croatian War of Independence. His footage remains a powerful visual record of the conflict. He was known for the documentary work “Banijska praskozorja,” which compiled his war footage, and for his unique approach as an author-cameraman, influenced by his background in archaeology and film studies.
