Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova calls for proactive defense in Ohrid

During an Army Day ceremony in Ohrid, President and Supreme Commander Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized that modern defense must focus on anticipating threats rather than merely reacting to them. She noted that the lines between conventional and hybrid threats are increasingly blurred, with unmanned systems, cyberspace, and artificial intelligence directly impacting modern warfare planning and execution.

Siljanovska-Davkova stressed the importance of building state resilience and capabilities to maintain functionality under unpredictable security dynamics. She stated that the highest success of defense is to create conditions that prevent war from occurring.

Reflecting on the military's history, she traced its origins to the formation of the ‘Mirce Acev’ battalion in 1943. She described the Macedonian Army as a highly organized formation with professional integrity and high interoperability with allied forces, highlighting its significant contributions to NATO and international peacekeeping missions, which currently include 183 personnel.
