Gordon Brown urges allies to press Trump for missile technology for Ukraine

Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has warned that Ukraine is facing its ‘worst winter’ of the war since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. Speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Brown stated that the conflict has reached a ‘critical moment’ due to Russian attacks on populated areas and essential infrastructure, such as electricity and power.

Brown urged the United Kingdom and its allies to press U.S. President Donald Trump to provide Ukraine with the designs for Patriot interceptor missiles. He noted that while Trump had previously promised to share this technology, he has not yet done so. Brown argued that providing these interceptors is vital for protecting Ukraine from bombardment that currently goes unintercepted.

While calling for increased support, Brown cautioned that the UK and Europe must remain ‘very careful’ to avoid a direct declaration of war with Russia, emphasizing the danger of the conflict escalating beyond Ukrainian borders.
